On Monday June 29, 1925, many of the nations Governors arrived in Maine for the annual Governors convention that was held in Poland Spring. The Governors arrived to much fanfare, including the roaring of the guns at Fort Williams and the blaring horns of the Fifth Infantry Band. The politicians also traveled to Bar Harbor.

On July 2, 1925, Navy Dirigible Shenandoah left New Jersey bound for Bar Harbor, Maine to meet attendees of the annual conference of Governors. The conference was held at the world famous Poland Spring Hotel, but Governors from across the country toured the state in the airship, along with other modes of transportation.

The Navy Airship Shenandoah was the first of four rigid US Navy airships. Two months after the Governors convention, the Shenandoah was torn apart and crashed over Ohio.

The ship arrived to great fanfare, including the roaring of the guns at Fort Williams and the blaring horns of the Fifth Infantry Band.

From June 29 to July 4, 1925, governors from 22 different states visited to Maine to attend the 17th annual Governors Convention. The convention itself was held at the Poland Spring House.

Pictured here are three such governors in front of the resort hotel that served as the venue. From left to right: Governor Adam McMullen of Nebraska, Gov. Robert P. Robinson of Delaware, and Gov. John W. Martin of Florida.
